History: Minerva was born to Robert McGonagall, a Muggle minister, and his wife, a witch. Robert and his wife had at least two other sons, however Minerva was the eldest and only daughter. She was raised along with her brothers in Scottish Highlands - this heritage is reflected during her adulthood through her accent and fondness of tartan.
Minerva was sorted into Gryffindor, but the Hat had a hard time deciding between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. Transfiguration was her best subject, and she got an Outstanding in her NEWT. Minerva was a student at Hogwarts when the Chamber of Secrets was opened for the first time, though she was not harmed due to the fact she was not a Muggle born.
After her school years, Minerva trained to become an Animagi, to explore Transfiguration further. When Minerva turned twenty, she fell in love with a muggle. But her love was not returned and she swore to herself to never fall in love again. She applied for a job as the Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts, and got it. Later, she also became the Head of Gryffindor. And after years of working at Hogwarts, she also got appointed the job of Deputy Headmistress.
Minerva was a member of the Order of the Phoenix ever since it existed. She has fought in the first was as well as the second. She is a lot more powerful than some might think, even at her old age. Minerva always kept a close eye on Harry Potter during his school years, and she cared for the boy. Minerva is very competitive and she was very happy when after seven years of losing the House Cup, finally winning it again in Harry's First year.
Minerva fought during the Second Wizarding war, and protected Hogwarts the best she could. And she was very happy when Voldemort was defeated. She helped rebuilt the school, and became Headmistress not long after, reopening the school for everyone who wanted to be taught.
