However as she believes that is the kind of behavior that could get her incarcerated in the current society, she feels like she has to be careful about what she says, how she says it, and who she says it too, but overall she is quiet and reserved around most people.

John always cared a lot for Jade, making sure she was cared for, fed, and had luxuries, although he never let it go too far if he could. However, his job, with him working so many hours, caused him to distance himself from the family, and he forces himself to work the longest hours as he can to do the biggest help to the department. The family holds high hopes for him however, and believes that sooner or later he'll hopefully get promoted to something where he can work less hours.
