The Attrium of the Ministry is bustling with people, students, their parents, and Ministry workers alike. Banners float around the room, welcoming everyone to the event, promising a safe and exciting day. Aurors stand on duty, elevators closed completely for the time being without Ministry approved access. A stage is set up near the back of the Attrium, Ministry workers encouraging people to gather round there in wait for the Minister of Magic to arrive and give his opening speech. An announcement tells you that there is five minutes before the Minister is due to start, waiting for the final people to arrive.

Sidenote: Because it can be quite confusing who you are talking to if you don't know their name yet, seeing as there will (hopefully) be a lot of people in here. So we came up with a solution, just put their name in the post once, use [Fill in name here] so the person knows for sure it is them you are talking to!

Kiva headed to the event with her father, who worked at the ministry, sticking close by to him and forcing herself not to hold his hand. She didn't want to look like a total coward, though she was standing close enough to him to be glued to his side. He took her towards the stage where the Minister would be making an announcement, telling her to stay there and to find a friend to stay with.

She glanced around, unable to spot anyone she knew. Shifting awkwardly, she played with the hem of her robes, biting her lip nervously and trying to decide what to do. She watched her father go and take his place along his workmates, knowing that he'd be busy doing work-related-things and the only chance she'd get to see him is if he went to see him about his job, but she wasn't sure she really wanted to. Other than to have someone she knew by her side.

Crowds made her very nervous. She so hoped someone she knew would turn up. She was kind of disappointed that she hadn't had the chance to ask if any of the few friends she had were coming.

Ai entered the Atrium and looked around. She wondered what any of her friends, or the rest of Gryffindor house would do if they knew she was thinking of joining the Avengers. She had a lot of bitterness built up over the years, especially after the one friend who understood her, had vanished. He probably was still at Hogwarts, somewhere, but she hadn't seen him since fifth year. She looked at all the decorations and shrugged. She walked over to a table and picked up a glass of butterbeer, as she sipped, she took note of who was there, and who was not.

Emily had been asked to come to the Ministry for the event that was held there. She wasn't used to being around so many people, it made her a bit nervous. But she didn't really mind, it was a whole new experience all together. She quite liked the fact people would turn to her for answers about her job, she loved talking about her job. Even to strangers. She would probably blabber a lot too, but she didn't notice. She hoped the people wouldn't either.

Emily stared at the stage, waiting for the minister to get on so he could give the opening speech. The minister had always intimidated her a little, or a lot. He was just so, well, intimidating. She didn't see herself doing against his will. He was probably one of the most powerful wizards alive.

Next to Harry Potter of course.

Emily saw a girl with dark hair next to her [Ai], who appeared to be scanning the room, and smiled. "Are you one of the students from Hogwarts, or do you work at the Ministry too? I don't think I have seen you before," she asked. The minister wasn't there yet, so she could just as well make a conversation. Maybe it would make her feel more at ease.

Ai turned to the woman who spoke to her. She smiled.

"Yes, I am in my seventh year at Hogwarts" She replied. "I am the Head Girl" Ai sighed. "I never expected to be given so much responsibiliy" She looked around the room again. "Still, I am grateful that it is my last year so I can get a job and my apparition license and be a full fledged witch" She said. "What part of the ministry do you work in?"

It had taken more than his fair share of persuading, but Thomas had eventually convinced his father to allow him to attend the ministry open day event, and seeing as his father was already going to be working, Thomas was taken to the Atrium of the Ministry, his father murmuring a 'don't do anything stupid' before disappearing and leaving Thomas to his own devices. He could hardly remember seeing so many people around since Diagon Alley and he was left slightly dazed.

He glanced left and then right. Thomas hardly knew anyone in the school as it was, but hoped that he could find somebody that he had at least met. After searching in vain for a few minutes, Thomas just continued to walk around. The speech had not yet begun, so he might as well take the opportunity to look around. He noticed a few people who looked close to his age, but decided to put off approaching them. Perhaps someone he knew would be around somewhere, and then he could talk to them rather than try to make conversation with a stranger.

As soon as they got to the Ministry, Mya was off, leaving her father and sister. She wanted to see things, and knowing her sister, she'd stay glued to their father all night. Their mother was at home, watching the younger siblings. Mya had never been in the Ministry before, so she took everything in as she walked around. She didn't really see anything other Gryffindors, except for the Head Girl, so she decided to head over there. She was almost there when she noticed someone else talking to her, so she changed direction and headed for the elevator. She was really curious what was upstairs. At the elevator, she changed her mind. She wasn't sure they were even supposed to go upstairs. Instead, she headed over to the punch and waited for the Head Girl to stop talking to the other woman.

Carly frowned when her sister took off, not even bothering to ask her to come along. Oh well. She'd probably tag along with her father all night, anyways. She didn't want to seem like she couldn't be on her own, but if she had to admit it, she was kind of scared. There were so many people, many of whom she didn't know. Carly hated crowds. Sighing, she looked up at her father, waiting for him to decide where they should go. When he didn't move, she sighed.

"Should we get some punch?" she asked. He nodded and the both of them headed over to the punch bowl. Carly saw Mya standing by the Head Girl but she just turned her back on her and got a glass of punch. She was still angry at Mya for taking off like that. She hoped the party would get over soon, though she doubted it. After all, it had barely gotten started. Sighing, she downed her punch and got another glass.

Louis couldn't really remember why he had to go to the Ministry. All he knew was that he had to. And seeing as he kept missing things, he decided it was probably a good idea to attend this one. Arriving in the Atrium, Louis was hit almost immediately by a barrage of sound from the crowd in front, and grinned. He loved busy places. They were his favourite.

Sidling through the crowd, he looked for somewhere to go and stand, and ended up banging straight into someone he recognised from his year, Chloe Zubinski or something. Zabini? Zabini. "Sorry," he apologised quickly, smiling. "Didn't mean to do that. Tidal wave of people, y'know, just got forced into you."

Ginny headed to the ministry with two fifth years in tow, looking forward to being there to see her family, not looking forward to being there because she wasn't sure how interesting it would be. If it was for Albus, she would do it though. It made it even more fun to know that he didn't actually want her there. She was a bit reluctant to leave him on his own at such a big event though. Call her paranoid, but if it meant her kids were safe, she was happy. Then again, she had left Lily at home with James, which wasn't exactly the safest thing for Lily.

She glanced over her shoulder at Albus and Scorpius, reminding herself why she was here. She was surprised that the Malfoys had allowed her to bring their son to this event. Ginny gestured for the two to hurry up, looking over at the stage where it would start.

"Right, I'll stay with you for the opening event, and then I'll leave you both to do whatever you want, and meet you back here when it finishes, okay?" she frowned as Albus pulled back from whispering something into Scorpius' ear. Something that had the fair skinned boy blushing. Ginny raised a brow, looking between them. "What are you two conspiring about?"

Why his mother was coming with them, Al didn't know, but he found it extremely emberassing. And he knew Scor wasn't very happy about it either. His mum and Scor did not get on very well, much to Al's dislike. He walked closer to Scor as he followed his mother through the crowded Ministry. He spotted several people he knew, but he didn't make an effort to call out for them.

When his mother stopped, Al leaned closer to Scor to whisper in his ear. "I know so many more interesting things we could be doing," he whispered, just pulling away when his mother turned around. He grinned widely when he saw his boyfriend was blushing. He bit his lip to stop a chuckle and turned to his mother to answer her question.

"Nothing, I was just asking Scor if he wanted to go to the Auror stand with me later. I leaned close to make sure he'd hear," he lied, smiling. "And that's okay, we'll make sure we'll be here!" he told her, trying not to seem extremely happy about the fact she wouldn't be with him the entire time. He was a fifteen year old boy, he did not want to be seen with his mother coddling over him.

It was another Ministry "DO SOMETHING NICE FOR THE CHILDREN" event in which the officials felt forced to prepare some sort of stupid careers fair and he, as a teacher, was expected to attend. It was the perfect opportunity for the students to find out more about the jobs they so desired to take and there was nothing in the world that Zacharias Smith despised attending more. People flaunting their success when he ended up stuck teaching the little snotty nosed shits who were going to become famous and discover things and thought that they could do all this just because they were pretty rather than paying attention in charms.

Entering the atrium, his eyes landed on every student as he tried to recall at least one occasion he had expelled, given detention or at least reprimanded them. There were several Weasleys there, the thick blond one who had somehow managed to get head boy (that was stupidity in the highest degree, they should have given it to Funny Name, he was about forty inside), Weasley Seven, otherwise known as Ginevra the Drinking Buddy (whom it transpired was mildly tolerable as well as pretty), as well as others he recognised; the Hufflepuff girl he had defended from Funny Name and Blondie, Kitty or Kerry or something, and the Ministry girl he had met at St Mungo's, Khaki Leg. She was in conversation with the head girl, the only redeeming feature of the students "in charge" this year, seeing as she had more than two brain cells.

Deciding that the best person to talk to was probably Ginevra the Drinking Buddy, he made his way over to her, to where she seemed to be questioning the actions of Blondie and Funny Name. Oh Merlin, she was a concerned parent. He couldn't abide concerned parents.

Scorpius despised the fact that Albus' mum was taking them to the event. He wasn't sure he even wanted to go, he could think of much better ways to spend his day. Like watching paint dry. He was positive that that would be a better way to spend the day. But alas, here he was, walking into the Ministry with his boyfriend and his mum, glancing around the room and making a note of the people he saw who he knew. There was a fair few of them. But he wanted to go back to bed.

When Albus whispered in his ear, he felt his cheeks heating up, mind instantly conjouring images that probably weren't appropriate thoughts for public areas, trying to decide if he should ignore the comment or elbow Albus in the stomach for it. Mrs Potter had already started talking to them though, and he could feel his face getting even warmer at the look she was giving them.

"Yeah, Auror stand," he murmured, figuring it was probably best if he just stopped talking. Scorpius looked around for an escape route, smirking as he found one of his favourite Professors and pointed over to them. "Hey look, it's Professor Smith!" he said, taking Al's arm as Mrs Potter looked up and away, dragging Albus away from the parental-advisory. As faar away as he could.

The Ministry was already starting to fill with people as Molly arrived. She had been asked to be on duty to keep an eye on things and she naturally agreed. She had been planning on going anyways and it was even better now that she was getting paid and all she had to do was to watch people. She noticed some familiar faces but decided against going up to any of them.

She hadn't really talked a lot to anyone outside of her job and Ashley for a while. She hadn't even seen Ashley lately. I wonder what happened to him she mused. Maybe he got himself a girlfriend and forgot about me.

She walked along with the crowd towards the stage. She weaved her way through until she was on the outside so she could see better. She didn't think she would even be needed and that made her happier. Secretly she wished Ashley would show up but she knew the chances of that happening were very slim.

It's the event of the year, her Dad told Bea in such an excited voice and went on explaining why exactly it was important for her to be there. His words didn't mean much to her, because any event the Ministry organizes is 'the event of the year' for Mr. Abbot. But he was so excited and really wanted her to at least go check it out, so the Hufflepuff agreed to go. He was going to go there either way, because he was expected to show up since he worked there.

She didn't dress up like her Mum wanted, instead she wore regular jeans, a t-shirt and a hooddie. She arrived with her Dad and scanned the atrium quickly, looking for anyone she knew. Which really actually meant Kiva or Lucy. She hoped Lucy would show up, she really liked the Gryffindor. She didn't see Lucy, but a grin spread across her face when she saw Kiva was there. Her Dad started talking to some co-workers, so Bea told him she'll go look around and made her way to her friend.

As she was walking, she glanced around to see who was there, so she wouldn't look as awkward as she felt. She saw her Head of House was there, she recognized Albus Potter from that one time they met, and she saw the Head Girl. She's never really spoken to the girl, so she was glad she didn't have to go say hi and she could just go stand next to Kiva.

"Hi! I'm so glad you're here." she met her friend with a smile as she reached her.

After having a gander around a little more, and becoming more and more certain that no one he knew had arrived, he felt a sense of dread. Then again, it might be a chance to go meet someone new. With that thought in mind, he looked around before heading towards two girls that looked around his age [Kiva & Beatrice] and stopped awkwardly close to them. "Hi." He said quietly, not wanting to be a distraction. After all, if the event started soon, then he wouldn't really want to disturb it or be a hindrance.

A field trip. That was what this was. Something that the Slytherin teenager hadn't been on since he was in primary school. It was something that he didn't like although he supposed that it was at least more thought out then most school trips. This one was preparing them for their futures at least. Letting them know if they wanted to join in the Ministry which it seemed everyone did if they didn't find a career or apprenticeship with a shop or mediwizard. The actual jobs were what piqued Ashley's interest so he decided he'd hear the speeches out and see if they would be allowed to tour everywhere.

There was another reason why Ashley didn't just not show up and use the out that his mother didn't wish to come and that his father was muggle and therefore would never step foot here. The teenager was actually looking for a particular Weasley he'd met. It seemed whenever they had talked the previous times something interrupted them and their time was short. A bit glad of his taller height but hanging near the back so he wouldn't have to listen or interact with his fellow students, Ashley's eyes wandered the crowd until he saw who he'd been looking for. A slight smile graced his face as he saw her on the outskirts by the stage. Giving a slight wave to hopefully catch Molly's attention and he wouldn't look like an idiot if not, he waited to see what would happen.

Kiva became increadingly nervous as more and more people arrived at the event, keeping her head down as the crowd got bigger, occasionally looking up and around quickly to see who was there. She saw Ai, the head girl, who was speaking to someone, a few girls she didn't know, the Slytherin Duo, more parents.

She sighed and looked back to the stage, hoping that someone would appear soon. She didn't have to wait too much longer though, as someone came and stood beside her, eyes lighting up as she saw Beatrice, smiling at the girl as she greeted her. "Bea! I'm glad you're here too! I was beginning to wonder if you were coming to come," she shuffled from foot to foot. "I was wishing I could owl you and ask if you were coming for a bit."

Someone else came over to speak to them and Kiva felt herself beginning to stammer, blushing slightly as he stopped close to them. "H-hi!" she greeted back, voice slightly higher than usual. She cleared her throat, trying to control her vocal cords. "Err, hi," she glanced at Beatrice for a moment, trying to think of something to say. She didn't know why she was suddenly so awkward. Though she was kind of like this with everything. She didn't usually try to make conversation though. "Enjoying yourself?"

She inwardly grimaced as the words left her mouth. Enjoying yourself? That was the best she could come up with?

Marina's recovery had been slow by anybody's standards, but she had been starting to get better. Her muscles had been built back up again so she could walk about on her own. She needed a cane to help support her though, so she didn't have to put too much strain on her heart. In previous times, Marina would have attended these events under duress and she would have sat sullen and grumpy in the corner. Now though, she was more than willing to attend, simply just to prove that she could get out and move about. Her mobility was far more limited than it had ever been before, she was still subject to pain and there was no way that she could fly but she could walk and she could try and smile.

Marina entered the Ministry and made her way to the appropriate designation, attempting to evenly disburse her weight on her cane. She had her hair down loose and she had arranged it to try and hide her scar. She was wearing dress robes and although they looked very frumpy and Victorian, they hid her shame well enough. She didn't want to frighten anyone after all. There were buttons all the way up to Marina's throat and she felt that they more than covered herself up.

She looked around the hall, attempting to pinpoint people that she knew. There were familiar faces, and then more unfamiliar faces. There weren't so many people that she could talk to and for the first time in her life, Marina could safely say that she was actually feeling rather shy. She caught sight of Scorpius and Albus standing with Albus' mother. Marina waved her gloved hands to catch their attention and made her way over to them.

"Nice to see you two are talking again. Hello Mrs Potter." Marina said fondly to Albus and Scorpius, before inclining her head in Mrs Potter's direction.

It had taken a depressingly long time and a fair few amount of arguments, but Rain had gotten to the Ministry in the end. Her father was against her going off to London for a day by herself ("No, she's far too young. It's a city, for god's sake, she could get lost!"), but with the combined effort of her, increasingly whingy, protests ("But daaaaad, anyone who's anyone is gonna be there!"), her mother's chiding ("Mark, she's survived Alphabet City. She'll be fine here, too."), she was finally allowed to go. It was easy to get a ride on the underground into London, then into Diagon Alley where she'd flooed from Gringotts into the Ministry.

Tumbling out of the fireplace, Rain stood up, dusting herself off, with as much dignity as she could still muster, before swiftly scanning the crowds for a familiar face to talk to. While she was here under the pretenses of looking around at the different department stalls and thinking about a future career choice (well, not so much a pretense because she genuinely needed to decide on a goal so she could focus on which OWLs to study most for; she'd put it off for so long already) she wasn't going to walk around like a sad loner all day. No, she'd find company. Whether she already knew the person or not.

Still, apparently she wouldn't need to as she spotted Albus and Scorpius standing by the Auror stall. Her face split into a wide grin as she walked, nearly ran, over to them and nearly tackled both boys. "Widdle baby Scoooooorpius Malfoul and Aaaaalbus Potter. What a delight to see you here! And on speaking terms again, nothing less," She grinned, looking up and noticing two other women, the redhead presumably Albus's mother [Marina and Ginny] standing with them. "Hello," she said politely, nodding and smiling.

Ginny looked up and saw the Professor that Scorpius was talking about, finding it oddly amusing that he was here. From their last conversation in the Leaky, she would've thought he'd rather be anywhere else than spending his freetime at a Ministry event for children. She could only guess that he was here for supervision or something.

Her attention snapped back to the present as she heard another voice, seeing Scorpius' cousin, Marina if she remembered correctly, heading towards them, wearing dress robes, completely covered. She recalled something about Harry mentioning that the Krum's daughter had been in hospital after a particularly nasty work event, so did her best to keep her eyes on Marina's, not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable. She glanced down at the two boys, who looked like they'd been in the process of attempting to run away, and couldn't help but smirk down at them before turning her attention back to Marina. Though she never realised Albus and Scorpius weren't takling.

As she greeted Marina, another girl came onto the scene, practically tackling the boys to the floor. The words that left her mouth had Ginny having to bite back laughter, not wanting to look so amused at the nickname. There was the thing about them not speaking again though. She gave Albus a look that said she was wanting to know what it was about, before turning to the new girl. "Hello to you too," she greeted. "I best leave you kids to get on and go," she looked around the room, eyes falling on Smith again. Really? That was her distraction? "Find something to do. It was nice seeing you," she said to Marina, assuming the woman would want to talk to her cousin about the fact he was talking to his best friend again or something.

Instead she went and wandered over to where Zacharias was standing, not wanting to start a conversation with him (due to the fact she had too much pride) but not wanting to be completely bored. And he was a pretty fun drinking buddy. For a Hufflepuff.

The way Kiva's face relaxed when she greeted her, made Bea very, very happy that she had a friend. If it wasn't for their friendship, they'd probably both be just standing there awkwardly, trying to avoid eye contact with people that were actually interested in the jobs at the Ministry. As for Bea, she had no plans whatsoever in getting a job there, she was thinking more of doing something with magical animals or plants. She had thought about it a lot and she was a hundred percent sure she doesn't want a job in the Ministry. Yet there she was. However, despite the fact she had no interest in the job fair, she was glad she was there to make Kiva feel more comfortable.

"We should owl each other! I mean, not just now...Like, if we want to talk and we're not at school...I'll give you my address?" she asked, not wanting to seem intrusive or something.

A boy came up to them and he seemed just as awkward and shy as they were. Bea smiled at him in a what she hoped was a warm way.
"Hello" she could see Kiva was feeling very awkward and just as she opened her mouth to say something, Kiva asked if they were enjoying themselves. The girl seemed to be dead-panning in her mind which made Bea hide her smile. She knew how it was to feel that way, as she was feeling it right now. In a slightly less intense way, but she was.
She nodded and said in no one in particular, as she wanted the boy to feel welcome as well, "There's quite a lot of people here. Er...how are you?" It wasn't the best thing she could say, but she decided to go for the sort of non-committal sentence, glancing at both Kiva and the boy. It was just after she's said that, that she remembered she could ask who the boy was and introduce herself. Now it was Bea's turn to deadpan mentally.

As the Ministry seemed to get almost full, the Minister of Magic stepped out up on stage, the Ministry seeming to draw to a quiet hum as he stood in front of everyone, casting a sonorus charm as he began speaking, welcoming all the Ministry workers, parents, and students, to the event that he hoped would be both enjoyable, and educational for all. He encourages students to ask questions, and begins explaining the process that the event will be carried out, that the students would be able to visit and talk to different people from each department of the Ministry, and that the workers would answer any questions within reason, and that there are people from outside of the Ministry who have arrived to take part in the day, and that they can be found right there in the Atrium.

You wait for him to finish, despite the fact that you have already recieved information about the event that is taking place, though you don't have much choice.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Go now, or it'll be Christmas by the time you get your lazy asses out there and actually do something," Nubilia hissed, turning around briefly to glare at the Avenger behind her. She could barely make out their individual faces between the fog (which was good because it meant her spell was working), only vague, hazy people-like shapes. But that was good enough for her. She could see through her charmed looking glass the atrium miles above the chamber she'd managed to secure below the Ministry that it was packed with people. That was good; she and the others could apparate in and out without too much notice due to the tremendous hustle and bustle already beginning upstairs.

She nodded to the human-shaped blob which she knew to be Cecily, motioning for her to take her group of Avengers and go upstairs to begin infiltration. Nubilia had trusted Cecily to lead that part of the plan, having grown fond of her after all that time cooped up in the attic of the Hog's Head with no one else for company. She was good to poke fun at, and besides, she was serious most of the time. That was better than she could say for some of the others. Nubilia had a hunch some of them were probably drunk or high on whatever they could find to smoke most days when they turned up for meetings.

As soon she heard the crack, Nubilia turned to the second group and wiggled her fingers, smiling even though she knew they wouldn't be able to see. Her group was smaller by far, but better, so it wouldn't have mattered whether they were the lesser part. They would play the more important role anyway. She quickly muttered a dislusionment charm, casting it over herself and the remaining followers as she turned, and feeling the almost comfortingly familiar, squeezing sensation of apparation. She didn't pay too much attention to her group to make sure they'd follow; she already knew they would.

Her feet hit the wooden boards of the stage hard, but any sound made from impact was already muffled in her silencing spell. Her calculations had been right; the minister was only several feet away from her. Nubilia bit the inside of her cheek to stop from laughing in glee, as she whipped out her wand, pointing it at the old man and shouting "Crucio!", as she knew her other Avengers would be doing the same thing to various other random members of the crowd.

She gave up stifling her laughter as the minister's screams started to drown them out anyway.

Ai had been listening to the Minister's droning speech and had grown board, so she looked off to the other student (Mya) who seemed to be waiting for something.

"Boring speech, isn't it" She muttered. Suddenly she heard screaming and whipped her head around to look at the Minister, and the woman who was torturing him. All over the atrium, other people were getting tortured as well. "Well, this just got interesting" She muttered, keeping a hand on her wand. She had no intention of helping, but she wanted to be ready, should someone come after her. She turned to Mya.

"You ought to get out of here" She told the younger girl. "I don't know if they're after students as well" She didn't want the other girl to know that she was actually thinking of joining the woman who had started this frenzy.
