Kiva was back at the Ice Cream Parlour, happily ordering herself a gummybear and candyfloss ice cream. It was a pretty nice day considering it was summer, and rather than heading straight home after getting her school books, she decided it might be nice to go get some ice cream. Being on her own never stopped her from getting ice cream after all.

Just as she was leaving the shop to sit outside, she remembered that she had forgotten a napkin to eat it with. Knowing her, she'd need it. She turned, slightly too fast, to go back inside, stumbling as she began to walk forward and tripping over the step to get inside the shop, eyes widening as she someone standing right in front of her. Someone she recognised.

Uh oh.

Kiva grimaced as she knocked into the person, her ice cream falling from the top of it's cone and landing on the dark haired girl in front of her, the grimacing as she heard the sound of ice cream hitting the floor. Oh, she hoped that was her ice cream and not the other girl's. She was already going to be in trouble.

"S-sorry..." she mumbled, face flushed with embarrassment. "I-I wasn't watching wh-where I-I was going."

Kate had never jumped at the chance to go to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies as she had when her uncle had given her the money and permission to. Despite what she liked to think about how she didn't need any permission from anyone to go wherever she bloody well pleased, even Kate had to admit that she'd need money from somebody to help her actually get there. She'd have used the floo, but her uncle had long-since disconnected them from the rest of the Wizarding world.

Bloody git.

She bought her new quills and ink bottles and textbooks and potion ingredients, spending the absolute minimum amount of time in the bookshop and almost an entire hour in the apothecary. She consulted her watch. It was still fifteen minutes to five, and she'd been told to get home by five at the latest. Which really meant she had to be home by six, if not half past five at the earliest. Spotting the icecream shop nearby, she decided she'd get an icecream, just to pass time. And she did have a galleon or two left.

Entering the shop and heading straight for the counter, she ordered her favorite lemon sherbet with rock candy, turned around, and strode out, planning to go sit on the steps of Gringotts and watch the people pass by, making up jeers and insults inside her head. The brunette only had a second to recognize the person who walked into her, dropping her icecream all over the front of her shirt. Kate had dropped her own cup on the floor in the collision.

"Well, obviously you weren't," she snapped, without hesitating. Her eyes narrowed as she recognized the girl who had walked into her. "You!" she exclaimed, the scowl on her face instantly deepening. "I know you. I think I know you, anyway. You're a Hufflepuff, aren't you? And a prefect, to boot. Kivvy, is that your name?" Kate was sure she shared a couple of classes with her. The girl's hand was almost always the first into the air to answer the teacher's question.

Kate pulled her now-sticky shirt away from her body and looked at it carefully to inspect the damage. "'Sorry' doesn't quite cut it," she hissed, not sparing a glance upwards at the other girl. It wasn't much of the fact that she had lumpy, used-to-be frozen dairy product all over her, more the fact said dairy product was a disgusting light pink color that really bothered her.

Kiva stepped back to observe the damage, grimacing at the sight of the other girl's cup on the floor. Oh bugger. Ohhh, bugger oh bugger oh bugger. She could feel her hands clamming up and her hands beginning to fidget nervously. She was in so much trouble it was insane. As soon as the girl snapped, quick as lightening, Kiva grimaced, her head hanging low in shame.

Before she had a chance to respond she was recognised though. Her head snapped up and she choked out a squeek, face heating. Oh goodness so much trouble wasn't even going to cover it. "I-I am, a Hufflepuff, and a prefect," why was she a prefect again oh Merlin she really needed to grow a pair. "I-I'm Kiva," she added quietly. She didn't think she'd ever been called 'Kivvy' before. If it wasn't for the way the other girl was saying it, she'd probably like it. But this wasn't anyone. "You-you're Kate. Slytherin."

She cringed when the girl hissed at her while inspecting her shirt, giving her ice cream a sad look. She was really looking forward to that ice cream. And now it was all gone. She'd have to buy another one. She really needed to learn to not be a clutz. That would definitely help her situation. And she would probably wind up replacing Kate's.

"I-the person, behind the counter, the server, you know," gosh just spit it out. "He-he might be able to clean your shirt up, right? And-and then we can get new ice creams, and then there's no harm done," except to her wallet.
