The Clock Keeps Ticking Empty
PostSubject: The Clock Keeps Ticking   The Clock Keeps Ticking EmptySat Jul 14, 2012 8:36 am

He died today. Well, he didn't really die. She killed him. He was her first kill, not her first victim, but the first person to die at her hands. She'd looked into his eyes while she did it, soaked up every sign of pain and misery that was visible on his face. She had made sure to make it entertaining, and painful, and maddeningly slow. The woman, then a girl, had enjoyed every second of it. Because she made him pay, pay for what he'd done to her. Because no one treated her like a toy and then got away with it. That was not how Vera's life worked. Alexei treated her like dirt, so Alexei had to die like dirt.

But every year, on the day she killed him, Vera felt betrayed. And played. And it was the only day of the year she let herself feel like a failure. Because really, how could she have thought that he loved her. She should have been smarter, she should have seen he was just using her. She'd been a fool. And she could never let herself forget it. This is why she swore to never love again, because love made people foolish. And it made them blind.

The blond twirled her wand between her fingers. There was one more thing she liked to do on this particular day. Prove to everyone, but mostly herself, that she was not a failure. Vera would never admit to anyone she had been such a fool, but she knew people knew. She knew her friends knew, even though they did not mention it. They shouldn't, unless they wanted pain.

This was why right now, they, Vera, her brother and Katia, were standing at the edge of a muggle village. Ready to cause some several damage. There hadn't been orders, the muggles hadn't done anything wrong, beside existing, they were purely doing it because they could. Because Vera had to prove she could.

"Ready?" she asked, but she didn't wait. Before they answered, Vera shot off the first spell, watching the green fog shoot from her wand to cover the ground in front of them. "Let's play."

It was the anniversary again. He knew of course that it happened every year, but Sasha knew that his sister was still affected by this day, and with very good reason. He stood next to his sister now, accompanied by Katia, the weather crisp, in a muggle village, a small smile on his face.

He followed Vera's charm, watching the green fog swirl around, and nodded, biting his lip. There was something very entertaining about the way she said that, especially with Katia present. If anyone liked to play with their victims, it was Miss Paltov.

"Hmm, this will be fun," he replied, nodding and putting his arms around the two girls. "Ladies first and all."

Katia had a new wand. She had a new wand, and she never felt better. And this wand even felt better. This wand didn't feel like one that her father had stolen for her. This wand felt like a real companion. And she couldn't have been more pleased with it. She was actually pleased about the date, though she was secretly always pleased about the date. Today was the most fun day ever. Today was the day she got to fully play as much as she wanted.

She giggled slightly as Vera confirmed they could play, and Sasha threw an arm around each of them. She bit down on her lip, watching Vera's spell spill across the ground, before she pulled out her own wand, setting fire to the fog, giggling as she did so and breaking away from the other two, dancing round the flames. "Play! Play! Dance! Dance!" she crowed, turning as she heard the sound of something from behind her.

A slightly more malicious smirk took over her face at the sight of blinds to a house flickering. Katia raised her wand, pointing it straight at the spot. "Boom."

She shot a spell, watching as it burst through the glass and set off a large explosion inside of the house, laughing once again and running down the street, thoroughly enjoying her new wand. It was much better.

Vera felt her brother's arm sling over her shoulder and she didn't object to the touch. Katia said fire the the fog she sent out and Vera moved her wand over them. "Incendia contego," she muttered, now they'd be able to move through those flames, and possible explosions without getting hurt. She would have to keep up the spell, but it wasn't very hard. Vera moved into the fog, watching as the flames licked at her bare legs. It was rather warm, but it didn't hurt. It tickled a bit, but it wasn't distracting.

"Don't burn the bodies, I want to use them later," he told her friends, before pulling down her hood and tossing her hair over her shoulder. "And you might want to cover your ears," she added, before using her wand to shot off a blood-curling scream. Just to make sure all those muggles were awake. They wouldn't want anyone to miss the party now, did they?

She kept it going until she feared her ears might bleed, and then broke it off. Lights went on in several houses, and Vera smirked. "I'll be right back," she muttered, before apparating away and popping up into a lit bedroom. She grinned and simply set fire to the sheets, the screams making her feel even better.

"Run then," she bit at them, and watched as they did. She'd drive them all out of their houses. She repeated the process several more times, setting fire to sheets and paintings, blowing up bedside tables and hovering over the ground while saying a simple boo. It got them all screaming and running just the same. Muggles were such useless creatures, this was the only thing they were good for. Pure and simple entertainment.

The Clock Keeps Ticking Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Clock Keeps Ticking   The Clock Keeps Ticking EmptyThu Jul 19, 2012 3:42 am

One instruction, and then his sister was off. He cast a sidelong glance at Katia, who seemed to be enjoying herself already, and smiled slightly, before yawning and deciding what to do with himself. Firstly, he decided, he was really rather hungry.

Apparating into the nearest house that wasn't smouldering yet, he appeared in front of a family of muggles, all of whom looked terrified, a few shrieks of shock at his sudden appearance sounding. "Hello, do you mind if I use your fridge, darlings?" he asked, gesturing to the metal appliance behind him. The beefy alpha male of the family grabbed a frying pan from a hook on the side and swung for him; Sasha dodged it and with a lazy flick of his wand, made it rebound, hitting the wall instead.

"All I want to do is make a sandwich," he told them in a cheery voice, bending over to check his reflection in the door of the microwave. "No need to be so touchy." He turned to look back at them, putting a finger in the air. "By the way," he said in a thoughtful tone, "The neighbourhood's on fire. Might want to do something about that."
