Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyMon Aug 27, 2012 8:37 pm

The library was definitely not on the list of Scorpius' favourite places to be. There were books everywhere and it was a bit of a gossip pit, and he always felt like he had to study when he was in the library. But on quiet days like this where not many people were inside studying in the library, he guessed it was managable. And he did actually need to study today. No matter how much help his father gave him in Potions over the summer to get him up to a suitable standard, he was still struggling. Though he was kind of better.

Which was kind of where the other matter came in, with Naomi, who was helping him study. Which wasn't a problem, exactly, she was very helpful, it was more the matter of guilt that was bugging him again. He had barely thought of how she'd gotten upset in Honeydukes during the holidays, once he left and said goodbye it was pushed to the back of his mind. But he was thinking about it now. And really, he was doing a terrible job at keeping the secret a secret. And he could trust her, right?

"I don't get it," he huffed, dropping his quill on the page. "There's so much to remember. And why would it make a difference whether or not I crushed or sliced the ingredients? They're all going in the same cauldron, does it really matter that much?" Scorpius slouched back in the chair. "I'll just fail. I'm happy with failing," okay so maybe he was being a little dramatic but he was having a mental dilema and didn't want to focus on bloody Potions.

Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyMon Aug 27, 2012 9:38 pm

Naomi was happy that Scorpius finally decided to study with her for Potions. In her opinion he was good at it but the essays part he sucked. No matter how many times the girl told him that he should focus better he still wouldn't do it. She knew that he was struggling with the theory part of Potions no matter how many times his father gave him lessons over the summer.

She was still upset about him not telling her something but she didn't want to make Scorpius feel bad so she put up with it. She wouldn't admit it to anyone but she looked up to the boy like a big brother, even though they were the same age. Maybe she was feeling left out from whatever was going on in Scorpius life, but she didn't want to pry if he wanted to, he could tell her.

Giggling, Naomi took his parchment and looked over it. She tapped her quill on the desk and said. "It does make a difference Scorpius. Let's say for example you make a potion that requires crushed ingredients and you put in sliced, the chances of that potion exploding because of the sliced ingredients is high. Or it could come out as a different potion, one which might as well be deadly to everyone." She looked at him, her lips quirking into a smile. "No matter what you do, you must always follow instructions to the dot. What would your father say if he heard you say that?" She then glared at him and whacked him over the head with a potions book. "You are not failing! Not on my watch anyway! If you are really happy to fail then I'll owl your father, I'm sure he'd be happy to hear that."

PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 2:08 am

Scorpius did do his best to listen to her as she started explaining why it made a difference if the ingredients were crushed or sliced. Exploding Potions didn't exactly sound nice though, so he probably should pay attention to her. He was still slightly distracted though, despite his constant attempt to get himself to listen to her.

"Okay yes I guess I see your point. Potions are so sensitive, honestly," he yelped as she smacked him with the Potions book, rubbing the back of his head and grimacing. Violent much? Girls were also so sensitive. "Okay! Okay, Salazar, I'm sorry! I'm not going to fail, I promise," he got more serious when his father was brought into it. "Swear. Please don't owl my father. I really doubt he'd be happy about it. I'm sorry. I'll concentrate more."

He did turn back to what they were doing, hesitating for a moment, before he began to play with his Quill. He didn't think he'd ever actually told someone about him and Albus. Everyone else had just found out in various ways. Merlin this was awkward. He wouldn't be able to concentrate till he did. It was better now than never.

"Hey, Naomi," stay calm. And just don't look at her. It'll help if you look at the books and parchment. "You remember in Honeydukes, there was that...thing that I wouldn't tell you, because I wasn't ready?" Scorpius grimaced. Really, how did you tell this to someone? He should've planned this in advance.

Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 2:15 am

Naomi felt he wasn't concentrating much on what he said so she laid down her quill and rubbed her temples. She supposed something was bothering him. Her lips curled into a smirk when he said he'd concentrate more.

"Good, you wouldn't want your father to find out what sort of things you've been saying about Potions to me, now would you?" She watched him when he went back to writing and she tried to concentrate on her own Potions' essay. She supposed it was easier for her then him but she wouldn't let him fail.

Her eyes snapped to him when he started speaking about the Honeydukes day and she slowly nodded. "Yeah, I remember. Why?" She swallowed, watching him. Her hands balling into fists as she thought about what he'd tell her.

Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 2:38 am

"You're so cruel to me, threatening to tell my father," Scorpius said, though there was a hint of amusement in his voice. There was something funny about being threatened by a Gryffindor, he guessed. At least no one was here to see it anyway. And he did appreciate her methods of motivation, at least they worked.

When he brought up the Honeydukes thing, he had a feeling she was still rather annoyed about it. Or maybe she was just eager to hear what he said. He figured it was probably better to not dwell on it. "Well, the whole relationship thing, we talked about it, and, well, it's okay for me to tell you."

Scorpius glanced up at her, forcing himself to look her in the face. He could do this. It was easy. Maybe she already guessed. Evra and Rain certainly guessed. Though he wasn't sure if Evra hadn't just told Rain. Details didn't matter. Overthinking it was starting to make him nervous. Maybe he should just spit it out? "I'm dating Al."

Tactful.

Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 2:49 am

Naomi rolled her eyes at Scorpius. "Cruel or not, I will tell your father once you fail your essay Scor." She was joking of course, but she enjoyed it when he got motivated to do everything well. She knew it was just for amusement. She knew if someone heard her threaten a Slytherin, they'd be just gaping at her as if she had a death wish, but thankfully no-one was.

She was slightly annoyed still but she wasn't bothered about him not telling her something about his relationship, it was his choice. She knew something huge was going to be said, something she would never expect. "You talked about it with your other and it's okay for me to know... Okay...." She nodded slowly and closed her eyes, ready for the final blow.

When he said he was going to tell her who he was dating, she wasn't ready to hear him say he was dating Albus Potter. Her blue eyes were wide and her mouth was hanging open. She quickly collected herself together and snapped her mouth shut. "You're... dating Al..." She said, before she fainted. She couldn't help it, it was a shock to her.

Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 4:52 am

Albus was on his way to the library, where he knew Scor and Naomi were working on their Potions essay because the blond had told him. Al already half finished his, because he loved Potions. Though he knew Scor hated it, and his boyfriend just procrastinated the fact he had to do it for as long as possible. And lately, whenever he and Scor were together, they had different things on their minds than studying either Potions or Transfiguration (which was probably why Al's latest Transfiguration grade had been dreadful, and he had hidden the essay deep in his trunk), and it was probably a good thing Scor was studying with his blond Gryffindor friend.

He reached the library, carrying the books under his arm as his eyes searched for the two blond's in the large room. What he found though, was a gaping Scorpius and a Naomi that was currently on the ground. Sprawled out quite undignified. Al's eyes went wide immediately and he walked closer quickly, standing behind Scor, close enough he could speak in his ear.

"What the hell did you do? Why's she lying there!" he nearly hissed, poking Scorpius in the back with his book.

Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 5:12 am

Scorpius waited for her reaction, her eyes snapping open and her mouth hanging open. He supposed it was a bit of a shock. Just a bit. At least he was capable of hiding it from someone as close to him as Naomi. He was beginning to worry that they were being too obvious. He wasn't really expecting her to faint though.

He stared on in awe for a few seconds at the place she was sat and no longer was. Well. That was. Okay then.

The sound of someone speaking behind him snapped him out of his daze though, jumping slightly and wasting no time in getting out of his chair and rushing to try and sit Naomi up properly. "She just fainted!" he defended, feeling heat creeping into his cheeks, glancing up at Albus for a moment before focusing on Naomi again. He pulled one of her arms over his shoulder, wrapping his round her torso. "Help me lift her back onto the chair, would you? How do you wake up a fainted person?"

Naomi slowly came to, opening her eyes slowly. She pressed her hand to her pounding forehead and groaned in pain. She felt as if someone hit her head with a bludger, which wasn't good. Her gaze focused on Scorpius and Al, before she groaned again at the headacher.

"I swear you just told me you were dating Al, Scorpius... Well, I've got to say congratulations." She told her Slytherin friend, as she pulled away from him and sat down in her chair. "That was... quite a shock..." She then looked at the two boys again before her lips pulled into a smirk.

"Seriously guys, congratulations and thank you for telling me." She told them sincerely. "I know it must've been hard for you to come to the decision to tell me."

Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 7:27 am

She just fainted. Al wasn't sure if he should believe that, but he followed Scor and helped him get Naomi back in her chair anyway. They could hardly leave the girl on the floor. "I dunno how to wake up a fainted person, I think they wake up themselves. Did she hit her head or something? Why did she even faint, there must have been a reason," he asked, pulling his hands away from the blond girl and studying her curiously. Then she started blinking again and Al took a step back.

When she spoke, everything became much clearer all of the sudden, and Al couldn't help but chuckle. "You told her, and she fainted," he said, before realizing something. "Wait, does that mean I should be offended?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest. "I mean, she fainted because you're dating me. That must mean something," he added.

His eyes quickly scanned the people around them, but no one appeared to be paying attention. Al took out his wand and cast a non-verbal muffeliato just in case someone decided to eavesdrop on their private conversation.

Scorpius waited as patiently as one could when they were worried about their friend. Wait for her to wake up by herself. He wasn't patient at the best of times. He hummed slightly as Albus said there must be a reason for her fainting, debating whether or not he should tell Albus. Though the boy was going to find out. Scorpius was just being awkward really.

Before he really had a chance to answer she was waking up, though Scorpius didn't take much of a step back like Albus did. He didn't want her to fall again or something. Maybe he should've tried breaking it to her more gently.

He flustered slightly as Albus chuckled and she congratulated them. "Yes, sorry about that," he muttered. "Didn't really think about easing you into it. And after our parents found out by accident, well..." he shrugged. "I wanted to tell you I guess."

Scorpius smirked at Albus at the question. "I'm going with it's a good sign and means people won't think we're together. Though you are pretty shocking I suppose."

Lacking in Concentration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyTue Aug 28, 2012 8:05 am

Naomi huffed at the boys in front of her as she debated what questions to ask them. Her eyes watched them before she finally started asking.

"When did you start going out? Who else knows? How long are you planning on keeping it a secret? Why did you want to tell me this?" She couldn't help it but the questions fell out of her lips on her own. Her cheeks flushed a nice, pink colour and she stared at the ground.

"I was just shocked Albus... Though you have to say you would be shocked too if someone you know just bluntly told you they dated someone. Though I suspected something was going on between you two." She grinned at the two boys. "The sneaky glances, the slight touch of hands when your passing each other. I guess you can say I knew deep down that you two were together but this just confirmed my guess."

Albus huffed at what Scorpius said. "Tssk, I'm not shocking. I'm like the boy next door, all the parents would want their daughters to date me," he said jokingly, crossing his arms over his chest. "But I suppose it's good that people don't notice. We've screwed up enough times already," he said, his cheeks heating up at that comment, remembering his mum and mister Malfoy walking in on them. That wasn't really something he liked thinking about.

Naomi started asking several questions, and Albus wasn't sure if he should answer them, or wait for Scor to open his mouth. He decided to just answer the ones he knew the answer of.

"Since the beginning of fifth year, uhm Rain and Evra. Scor's parents and my mum, though that wasn't supposed to happen. Oh and my cousin, and I'm fairly certain Scor's cousin knows?" he answered, before falling silent again. He wasn't sure about the answers to the next two, so Scor could answer those. Al let his hand brush against the blond's quickly, just for good measure, before he looked up and grinned at Naomi.

Naomi chuckled at the two, twirling a lock of her hair around her finger before pulling her hair up in a side pony-tail. She watched the two with happiness, wishing someone would look at her like that.

When she heard Al say that all the parents would want their daughters to date him she could help it and giggled. Thankful that the silence spell. The librarian would throw them out, that's for sure.

"Ah, a full year already... That's cool." She pursed her lips as a smile threatened to show on her lips. She didn't comment on the fact that more people knew then she thought, though when she heard that Scor's parents and Al's mum she couldn't help but laugh at that. "Seriously? Your mother and Scorpius parent's? That's surprising, I'm surprised Scor's parent's didn't flip." She grinned when she saw Al's hand brush against the other Slytherin's.

Scorpius smirked at Albus, imagining him as the boy next door. "It's a shame you don't date daughters then, isn't it?" he asked, though at the mention of their screwups he cringed slightly. "That happens I suppose. A few times," at least it had been relatively painless?

He couldn't help but roll his eyes slightly as Naomi started asking questions. She would have questions to ask. Lots of questions. Albus seemed quite happy to answer the first two, though the second made him feel slightly uncomfortable. He didn't want to upset her or Albus. "Cousin, yes," he murmured slightly, trying to choose his words carefully. "I don't know. Till I was ready to come out with it?" Scorpius shrugged slightly, licking his lips. "I didn't tell anyone, apart from my cousin. Everyone else found out their own way. I wasn't ready to say anything."

He couldn't help the smile that cracked on his face at Naomi's amusement. "I think Al's mother reacted worse than mine. Mother seemed more disappointed that I didn't tell her, she wasn't bothered by...the fact it was Albus. And my father, well," he thought of his father's reaction. "I can never quite tell what he thinks."

PostSubject: Re: Lacking in Concentration   Lacking in Concentration EmptyThu Oct 18, 2012 8:39 am

Naomi was pretty sure she didn't want to know what the two were talking about when Albus mentioned some screw ups, if she asked what they meant she was sure she'd be flushed and not even wanting to listen to it.

Her lips curled into a smile and she shook her head. She knew they would probably wait until they graduated before they told anyone else about it. "So... Am I to assume I'm the only friend you told about your relationship? If so then I'm honoured and I'll be keeping your relationship a secret for as long as you wish to have it kept secret." She smiled at the two boys.

She couldn't help but laugh when Scorpius mentioned that his mother seemed disappointed. "Ah, I'm sure she would feel disappointed if her only son didn't tell her about her relationship with the second hottest guy in Hogwarts." She smirked. "I'm sure your father is happy for you, after all you are totally in love with Albus, Scor."
