Professor Fairmount's Office Empty
PostSubject: Professor Fairmount's Office   Professor Fairmount's Office EmptyMon Sep 26, 2011 1:56 am

Alisson sighed heavily as she dumped the pile of heavy books on her desk with a small, satisfying thump. She glanced around the classroom, looking satisfied for once. There were posters and charts tacked up on the stone walls. The posters showed diagrams of numbers and their corresponding letters and characteristics underneath.

She smiled wryly and sat down at the small rickety desk. It felt weird to be sitting where her old professor used to sit. Alisson was new at Hogwarts, being only a fresh graduate a couple years ago; time seemed to fly past while she was wasting away in front of her numbers and calculations over and over again. Alisson was always found in the library, even in her schooldays. She wasn't a Ravenclaw for nothing. Heavy irony.

Speaking of students, she wondered how many students she would have to teach this year. Arithmancy certainly was not a popular subject among the students, and only the rare studious student would opt to take it. Pulling out a sheet of parchment, she studied the class list. It was despairingly short compared to most other subjects like potions and transfiguration, but to Alisson, any student who wanted to learn would be good enough for her.

She set the paper down softly, and turned it over and began a fresh set of new calculations. Maybe she could predict the possibilities and futures of her soon-to-be students; Arithmancy was just another form of future-seeing, just like Divination. Only a lot more solid and fact-based. Alisson dipped her quill in her ink-pot and soon began scratching away at her parchment; calculations like these often took her mind off things and kept her occupied for a long time. She only looked up when she heard a knock on her door.

"Yes? Come in."
