Childhood
Luna was the only child of Xenophilius and Andrea Lovegood. Luna's mother was accidentally killed whilst experimenting with spells when Luna was nine years old. Her father raised Luna over the hill from the Weasley family. She is an only child.
She went to Hogwarts and was sorted into Ravenclaw house. Whilst at Hogwarts she became friends with Harry Potter, Ginny Potter (nee Weasley), Ron Weasley, Hermione Weasley (nee Granger) and Neville Longbottom. She became part of the underground resistance group, Dumbledore’s Army, in her fourth year and even when it was officially disbanded, continued to be a member.
She was involved in the attack on Hogwarts in her fifth year when Albus Dumbledore was killed. She was taken hostage by the Death Eaters after they took hold of the Wizarding World because her father stood up against them in the press. She became friends with Mr Ollivander after being held in captivity with him.
She was involved in the infamous Battle of Hogwarts and was witness to the events going on there.
After Hogwarts, Luna became a famous wizarding naturalist, travelling the world in search of strange creatures. She discovered and classified many species that had never been encountered before.
Harry and Ginny gave their daughter Lily, the middle name Luna, considering Luna to be a "dear friend."
Luna married fellow naturalist Rolf Scamander, grandson of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author Newt Scamander. The couple had twin boys, Lorcan and Lysander, born several years after the children of Luna's friends.
